About the event

Adding native plants to the garden is a wonderful way to grow beautiful blooms, support our local wildlife and our local environment. Here in Virginia we have an abundance of native plants to choose from, for both sun and shade. In this class, Louis Ratchfield of Merriefield Garden Center will discuss what a native plant is, which plants can be used in the garden for a variety of purposes, and how to create beautiful garden beds with them.

Louis Ratchford, Merrifield Plant and Design Specialist, loves helping people select plants to develop their dream gardens. As a member of the trees and shrubs team at our Fair Oaks location, you’ll often see Louis wearing his friendly smile and pointing out beautiful and fragrant plants to customers and coworkers alike. A true cheerleader for new and unique plants, Louis’ passion is infectious - he often has the entire nursery team excited…
