September 11:  Camelot Garden Club Meeting  “Fall Gardening – Best Practices”

Speaker David Roos, a local gardening celebrity and writer will kick off our club’s season with his tips on  fall gardening. He has encouraged us to experiment with natives, use local nurseries and maximize the magic that is fall, the best time to get out and plant.

Master Gardener Plant Clinic  –  Do you have a gardening question you’d like to ask? Bring plant samples and photos for identification or diagnosis to the Master Gardeners Plant Clinic table at the garden club meeting.  Expert advice on pruning, vegetables, insects, lawns, trees and shrubs and more.

October 7: Garden Therapy at Leewood Health Center, 11:00am

Garden club members will help residents at Leewood Health Center make floral arrangements for the fall season. The team members engage with residents to provide assistance, friendship and share the beauty of flowers. It’s a rewarding experience for both the residents and club members.

October 9: Camelot Garden Club Meeting   “Designing with Native Plants”, 7:30pm

Elisa Meara from Native Plant Landscape Design will show us a variety of beautiful native plants that will thrive in all garden conditions and provide a riot of color and interest throughout the seasons.

October 20: Bow Making Workshop, 2:00pm

 A hands-on workshop to learn how to make an impressive bow for the holiday season and help with our annual lamp post fundraiser at the same time. We’ll supply all of the materials, you’ll make 2 or more bows- one to take home for your holiday decorating and the other we’ll keep to decorate one of the lamp post swags for the garden club fundraiser.

Experienced and novice bow makers are welcome!

November 13: Camelot Garden Club Hands-on Workshop “Herbal Bath Salts” , 7:30pm  RSVP only!

Camelot Garden Club member Nancy Smith will guide us through the steps of making an all-natural bath product using dried flowers from our gardens as well as dried citrus slices and eucalyptus leaves. The salts and dried material will be mixed with essential oils, packaged into small glass containers and personalized with labels, rubber stamps, and/or ribbons.
The single-use bath salts are great to keep on hand for the end of a stressful day or a gift for a friend, hostess gift, or stocking stuffer.
Guests are welcome for a workshop fee of $35.00

December 5th to 7th: Holiday Lamp Post Fundraiser  

Volunteer to help create and install lamp post decorations.

Camelot Garden Club members create swags of magnolia leaves, evergreen branches, pine cones, berries and a full handmade bow. We install the lamp post decorations in the Camelot neighborhood during the 1st weekend of December.

Our annual Holiday Party is a long standing tradition for club members and their guests. It’s a time to get together to enjoy the Holiday season.

Join us for an interesting and informative meeting about native plants and bird friendly gardens.

Bring more birds and wildlife into your yard by planting native shrubs and perennials. Our program will focus on the best types of native plants and other elements to incorporate into your garden to provide water, shelter and food for wildlife.

Arlene Stewart, a renowned floral designer and National Capital Area Garden Club treasure, will demonstrate a variety of floral arrangements that showcase the asymmetrical style of oriental flower arranging.

 March 11: Camelot Garden Club Meeting,  7:30pm  “Pruning Lessons”

Peter Deahl, our favorite arborist, will continue his lessons on letting every shrub and ornamental thrive in its’ natural beauty through the art of pruning. As he often tells us, “inside every shrub is a work of art waiting to bloom!”   Peter will guide us through the steps of pruning for a natural shape.
